Quick answer
Odds on PariPulse are decimal: stake × odds = total return. The main columns on the odds table are 1 X 2 (match result), 1X 12 X2 (double chance), B Total U (over/under) and 1 Handicap 2. Combine selections into an accumulator to multiply the odds; every selection must win.
Decimal odds
Decimal odds tell you the total return for every ₦1 staked, including the stake itself. A ₦1,000 bet at odds of 1.875 returns ₦1,875 if it wins: ₦1,000 back plus ₦875 profit. Lower odds mean a more likely outcome and a smaller return; higher odds mean the opposite.
| Odds | ₦1,000 stake returns | Profit |
|---|---|---|
| 1.25 | ₦1,250 | ₦250 |
| 1.875 | ₦1,875 | ₦875 |
| 3.00 | ₦3,000 | ₦2,000 |
| 10.50 | ₦10,500 | ₦9,500 |
Implied probability and the bookmaker's margin
Every decimal price hides a probability: divide 1 by the odds. Odds of 2.00 imply 50%; odds of 1.25 imply 80%. Add up the implied probabilities of all outcomes in a market and you'll get more than 100%. The extra is the bookmaker's margin.
- Home win at 2.25 → 1 ÷ 2.2544.4%
- Draw at 3.64 → 1 ÷ 3.6427.5%
- Away win at 3.00 → 1 ÷ 3.0033.3%
- Total
- 105.2%
The 5.2% above 100% is the margin built into the prices. It's why betting costs money over time, and why comparing your own estimate with the implied probability is the only way to judge whether a price is fair.
Reading the odds table
| Match | 1 | X | 2 | 1X | 12 | X2 | B | Total | U | 1 | Handicap | 2 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Home team Away team | 2.25 | 3.64 | 3.00 | 1.42 | 1.31 | 1.68 | 1.59 | 2.5 | 2.36 | 1.67 | 0 | 2.21 |
- 1 · X · 2
- Home win, draw, away win
- 1X · 12 · X2
- Double chance: two outcomes in one bet
- B · Total · U
- Over or under the goal line (2.5 here)
- 1 · Handicap · 2
- Each side's price after the handicap (0 here)
1X2 and double chance
1X2 is the match result. 1 is a home win, X a draw and 2 an away win. In sports without draws, such as tennis, the X column shows a dash.
Double chance covers two of the three outcomes in one bet: 1X wins on a home win or a draw, 12 on either team winning, and X2 on a draw or an away win. Covering more outcomes means lower odds.
Handicap betting
A handicap adds or subtracts goals, points or games from one side's score before the bet is settled. If you back a team at -1.5, it must win by two or more. At +1.5, it wins your bet with a draw or a one-goal defeat. A handicap of 0 means a draw returns your stake. Handicaps make one-sided matches worth betting on at both ends.
Totals (over/under)
A totals bet is about how much scoring happens, not who wins. The Total column shows the line, for example 2.5 goals; B is the price for over and U for under. With a 2.5 line, three or more goals wins an over bet and two or fewer wins an under bet. IT1 and IT2 are individual totals: the same idea, for one team or player only.
Singles and accumulators
A single is one selection. An accumulator combines several selections into one bet and multiplies their odds, so a small stake can return a lot, but every selection has to win. One loser and the whole bet loses.
Each day PariPulse publishes a pre-match and a live Accumulator of the Day with a ×1.1 PariPulse bonus on the overall odds:
- Cricket · Match winner1.288
- Cricket · Total runs over1.55
- Cricket · Match winner1.627
- Cricket · Wicket in the over: No1.38
- Combined odds
- 4.482
- PariPulse bonus
- ×1.1
- Overall odds
- 4.931
A ₦1,000 stake returns ₦4,931 if all four selections win. If any one loses, the whole accumulator loses.
System bets, chain bets and Advancebets
Beyond singles and accumulators, the PariPulse terms refer to three more bet types:
System bets
A system bet is a set of accumulators built from your selections, so you can still win something when one or two selections lose. A "2 from 3" system on three selections places three doubles (AB, AC, BC). If two selections win, one double pays out. Your stake is split across all the combinations, so each costs a share of it.
Chain bets
A chain bet places a series of singles in order, where the stake for each bet in the chain is set in advance rather than staked all at once on one combined price. Ask Customer Support or check the Bet Acceptance Rules for how PariPulse settles a chain if one link loses.
Advancebet
An Advancebet lets you place a bet when your balance is tied up in bets that haven't settled yet, using an advance against them. Advancebets don't count towards bonus wagering, and they can't be used for the Accumulator of the Day.
System and chain bets don't qualify for the losing series bonus, and most bonuses only count singles and accumulators, so check the offer before using them.
Long-term bets
Long-term (outright) bets are settled at the end of a competition rather than after one match: the league winner, the top scorer, the tournament champion, or ante-post markets on a big race. Long-term markets cover football, basketball, tennis, rugby, motorsport and more. Your stake is tied up until the competition finishes.
Totalizator and Total Jackpot
The totalizator is pool betting. Instead of fixed odds, you predict the results of a set list of matches, and the stakes from all players form a pool. The more results you get right, the bigger your share, up to the Total Jackpot for a full set of correct predictions.
Using the bet slip
- Add selections by tapping odds; they collect in the bet slip.
- Save and load: save a bet slip and load it later, or on another device, with a code.
- Bet slip check: look up the status of a bet with the bet slip checker.
How bets are accepted, settled and voided is set out in the Bet Acceptance Rules in the terms and policies.
